when I say that you have worked hard to make your program what it is today and that you richly deserve this new opportunity at yur campus.

Dear Colleagues,

it is indeed with mixed emotion that i write this email.  i have just accepted a new appointment as assistant dean of planning and administration in the School of Social Sciences at the Irvine Campus.  i will begin work in my new position on April 1.

i cannot begin to convey the respect that i have for all of you.  being director of parking and transportation is a hard job with many responsibilities, and often goes unappreciated.  all of you have met the demands of your position with dignity and aplomb; i consider it an honor to have been a colleague of such a great group of managers.  thank you for sharing your ideas, insights, and experiences with me; the result was that i was able to make better decisions because of you.

i still hope to attend next week's parking conference in Stanford.  but due to the short time before i start my new job (April 1), i may not be able to make it.

thanks once again for your support, guidance, and caring.  i will value our friendship always.

warmest regards,
mike
