To reclaim some disk space on the UCI Redhat mirror on ftp.uci.edu, we
will be removing the following Redhat Linux releases and any updates
available for these releases on Wednesday, Oct 6th.
Redhat 6.2
Redhat 7.0
Redhat 7.1
Redhat 7.2
Redhat 8.0
The Fedora Legacy Project (http://www.fedoralegacy.org) is still supporting
Redhat 7.3 and Redhat 9.0 somewhat so those release will stay on
the mirror for the time being. Please refer to their web site for
information on how to get the updates via apt or yum. You should not
do new system installations using Redhat 7.3 or 9.0, however.
If you are using any of these old Redhat releases, you should be
upgrading to either Redhat Enterprise Linux (which has a licensing cost),
Fedora Core Linux (which is on ftp.uci.edu in mirrors/fedora) or some
other distribution that is currently getting updated as new security issues
are found and fixed. Running an old release is an invitation to getting
your system attacked and possibly broken in to, resulting in a forced
upgrade to something that is supported when you are not prepared to do
an upgrade.
