Computer Science Distinguished Lecture Series Event

Event: Proof, Secrets and Computation
Time: 11 a.m.
Date: Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014
Location: Donald Bren Hall, Room 6011, UC Irvine
Speaker: Silvio Micali, Ford Professor of Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Abstract: Micali will discuss how the theory of computation has revolutionized the millenary notion of a proof, revealing its unexpected applications to our new digital world. In particular, he will show how his research — largely based on his joint work with fellow MIT professor Shafi Goldwasser — demonstrates how interaction can make proofs much easier to verify, dramatically limit the amount of knowledge released, and yield the most secure identification schemes to date.
Additional info: Events are open to the public and there is no cost to attend. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
