Two Calit2-affiliated projects have been entered into national online
competitions, and both need your help to win the popular vote grand
prize.

Prof. David Kirkby and three students designed "wotz," a mobile and
online app that helps consumers understand their energy usage with
games, analogies and user-friendly information
(http://www.calit2.uci.edu/calit2-newsroom/itemdetail.aspx?cguid=3b0e5fd
6-eb33-49c7-8c57-aee1053feb8b). The app is one of 55 entered in a
Department of Energy competition, where it has already won the $15,000
student award grand prize. Online voting for the popular choice award is
open through Thursday, May 31 at
http://appsforenergy.challenge.gov/submissions/7998-wotz.

UCI graduate student and IGERT LifeChips Fellow Trisha Westerhof was
chosen to represent the LifeChips program in an online video and poster
competition. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation's IGERT -
Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship - the
competition is intended to help the public understand the vast array of
multidisciplinary projects in development. Westerhof's project,
"Enabling Single Cell Tumor Analyses Using Micropallet Arrays"
3-e9fb-4cc0-9219-2c7b65b0987e) is one of 114 chosen nationally to
represent the program. Voting is open through Friday, May 25 at
http://posterhall.org/igert2012/posters/233.

Thank you for your support of these projects!
