"WEB-ENABLED HOME HEALTH MONITORING"
Mark Bachman
Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
SURF-IT Fellow: Jakkree Janchoi
This project is developing a graphical user interface using Web 2.0
tools in order to connect a home-based health monitoring server to a
doctor or hospital. The system will monitor activities such as walking
and exercising and collect data such as weight and blood pressure. The
software will be modular and based on web standards so that it can run
on any modern browser, including mobile devices. The team is currently
developing interfaces for specific healthcare devices and integrating
these interfaces within the overall system, and discussions are under
way with organizations that may adopt the system. Dr. Bachman is the
leader of many funded biomedical microdevice projects at UCI. He holds
a Ph.D. in Experimental Physics from the University of Texas, Austin.
