[UCI-Calit2] Upcoming Research Center Mixer

All Calit2 researchers -- including graduate students and postdocs --
are invited to the Research Center mixer sponsored by UCI's Office of
Research. The event is designed to help generate ideas for research
topics and research teams.

2 - 2:10 p.m. Welcome and Introduction by Associate Vice Chancellor for
Research Jim Earthman 

2:10 - 2:40 p.m. Dan Stokols: Challenges of Research Collaborations 

2:40 - 3 p.m. Dan Stokols: Q&A

Featured center directors discuss the challenges of collaboration in
their units:

3 - 3:10 p.m. ICTS Director Dan Cooper 

3:10 - 3:20 p.m. GERI Director Hoda Anton-Culver 

3:20 - 3:30 p.m. SCRC Co-Directors Peter Donovan and Hans Keirstead

3:30 - 3:45 p.m. Break

Breakout Session

3:45 - 4 p.m. Workgoups congregate at assigned tables and establish
roles

4 - 4:30 p.m. Researchers discuss potential collaborative research
projects in each workgroup

4:30 - 5 p.m. Researchers choose a research project and draft a proposal
brief

5- 5:45 p.m. Workgoups present their findings and proposed project (time
allotted for each group will be determined by attendance and will be
announced by AVCR Earthman)

5:45 - 6 p.m. Judges determine winner of best proposal and announce
outcome

6 p.m.  Adjourn
