SCOPE: The National Science Foundation is inviting grant applications to
support the creation, enhancement and operation of world-class computing
research infrastructure.

DEADLINE: September 22.

FUNDS: Approximately $18 million is available for 30 to 54 awards,
including up to four Community Infrastructure awards and 50
Institutional Infrastructure awards.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to U.S. institutions of higher education and
nonprofit, non-academic organizations associated with educational or
research activities. An individual may participate in up to two
proposals as PI, Co-PI, or Senior Personnel.

AREAS: The program supports the following two classes of projects:

* Institutional Infrastructure (II) awards support either the creation
of new computing research infrastructure or the improvement of existing
computing research infrastructure. The proposed infrastructure must
enable compelling new research and education opportunities for those
involved. NSF welcomes II proposals involving multiple investigators
from one or more departments and/or institutions, and encourages
projects that are led by or include two-year, predominantly
undergraduate, and/or minority-serving

institutions.

* Community Infrastructure (CI) awards support the planning for
computing research infrastructure, the creation of new computing
infrastructure, or the enhancement of existing computing research
infrastructure in order to provide compelling new research and education
opportunities for a broadly-based community of researchers and educators
that extends well beyond the recipient institution(s).

Awards also may support the operation of such infrastructure.
