Mark your calendars!
Below is some information on our next CRITO Hour, which will be on
Friday, November 4th in room 3008 of Calit2. Our guest speaker is James
Pick from the University of Redlands. The topic of his talk is: "A
Framework for Spatial Technologies in Business."

Food and drinks will be available at 11:45am and conversation will start
at noon. See you there!

Abstract:

Spatial technologies in the private sector have experienced rapid growth
led by such industries as utilities, transportation, healthcare, natural
resources, real estate, and retail. The motivator of this growth is
lower costs, advancing linked technologies and linked software, web
delivery, enhanced analysis-modeling tools, enterprise applications, and
increased recognition of the benefits of spatial information. A
framework is given for the evolution of business uses of spatial
technologies. Several case studies are discussed of firms to illustrate
the framework and the growth factors.
