Presents
Geographic Random Forwarding (GeRaF) for Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks

Topic: Presentation by Michele Zorzi
University of Ferrara
In this talk, we describe a novel forwarding technique
based on geographical location of the nodes involved and random
selection of the relaying node via contention among receivers. We first
provide a description of the basic idea and study the multihop
performance of the scheme. We then provide a detailed description of a
MAC scheme based on these concepts and on collision avoidance, and
report on its energy and latency performance. Using analysis and
simulation, we show that the proposed technique is able to achieve
significantly better performance than current schemes in some useful
scenarios.

Speaker: Michele Zorzi is a Professor of Telecommunications at the
School of Engineering of the University of Ferrara, Italy. After
obtaining his Ph.D. at the University of Padua, he was an Assistant
Professor at Politecnico di Milano and a Research Scientist at
UC San Diego. His research interests are focused on wireless
communications and networking. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE
Wireless Communications Magazine, and is on the Editorial Board of many
journals.
