!!! OK, but what is the meaning of the Talmudic expression you are alluding
to? And how did it end up used in an antisemitic sense? Is that negative
usage limited to Greece, and did it precede or follow Kazantzakis' use in
the said novel? (Here things may get complicated, as the novel was
originally written in French (1929), so it is not clear where the stress
was in French, and likewise not clear whether the 'alternative' stress in
Greek was introduced by the author or by the translator!)
