Search, Editors for the Journal of Modern Greek Studies

The Modern Greek Studies Association is seeking Editors for the Journal of Modern Greek Studies to succeed the current Editors, Johanna Hanink (Editor for Arts and Humanities) and Antonis Ellinas (Editor for Social and Behavioral Sciences). Published twice every year in print and electronically with Johns Hopkins University Press, the Journal is the leading forum for the publication of scholarship on Modern Greek culture and society in English. The Association is looking for accomplished scholars, fluent in both English and Greek (including its various registers), who can lead the Journal for a period of three years, a term of service that is renewable if the Editors so wish, subject to approval by the Association’s Executive Board.

The principal duty of the Editors is to supervise the entire editorial process from the initial submission of a manuscript through its blind review process and its eventual publication. The Editors’ work is supported by two Associate Editors, two Book Review Editors, and the members of the JMGS Editorial Board, who normally serve three-year terms and who are appointed by the MGSA Executive Board with attention to the recommendations of the Editors. The position is also supported by a copy editor.

Interested applicants should submit a CV and a statement indicating any previous editorial experience and outlining their vision for the Journal as a scholarly and collaborative project. They should also state their expectations as well as whether and what type of support they can secure from their home institutions to take on this position, such as course release time or clerical support.
