The Greek Revolution (1821)—to a great extent inspired by the American and the French Revolutions—had a remarkable impact on geopolitical developments in Europe in the second quarter of the 19th century and beyond. This event at Harvard commemorates the bicentennial of that major incident in European history, while also addressing significant social, geopolitical, and cultural challenges and opportunities that Greece and Europe are facing today. This event is co-sponsored by the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, the George Seferis Chair of Modern Greek Studies, and the Consulate General of Greece in Boston.
