A group of Indiana University students in this semester’s Geography of Food course taught by our colleague Olga Kalentzidou set up a funding campaign to support the construction of the Peliti Seedbank building. Peliti, based in Drama, is a wonderful venture by Panagiotis Sainatoudis to collect, preserve and distribute traditional varieties of seeds. It is internationally recognized and networked and has received multiple awards and distinctions. There are Peliti groups in the US (New Mexico and Idaho), as well as in Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Turkey. Peliti’s Seed Festival has done much to promote sustainable, small-scale agriculture and preserve traditional food knowledge. For more information on Peliti see the profile in the GoGetFunding platform.

Thank you!
