webinar in the series, *Conversations about Greece: A series of webinars
dedicated to literature, translation and scholarship from Greece, about
Greece and beyond*.

*Monday November 16 4:00 - 5:15 pm*

*via Zoom*
*Elsa **Amanatidou* and *Vangelis **Calotychos* in conversation with
*Joanna **Eleftheriou* about her new essay collection, *This Way Back*.

Going back to her ancestral homeland, a Greek American girl discovers she
is a lesbian in love with God, so her questions about home and belonging
will not be easily answered. *This Way Back* dramatizes a childhood split
between Queens, New York, and Cyprus, an island nation with a long colonial
history and a culture to which the author could never quite adjust.

*Joanna Eleftheriou* is author of the new essay collection *This Way Back*
and has published essays, poems, and translations in journals such as
*Bellingham
Review*, *Arts and Letters, Chautauqua, The Common,* and *Crab Orchard
Review*.
