[MGSA-L] Excursions & Tours at the MGSA Symposium, 7-10 November

Attendees at the MGSA Symposium in Sacramento may like to consider a tour or an excursion on the California State campus; in and around Sacramento; to Napa Wine Country or San Francisco; or as far as Las Vegas! 

The Local Arrangements Committee has worked diligently to offer a series of such opportunities. All tours must be booked in advance. Attractions include:
Capitol – Take a tour of the California state capitol on Friday during the lunchbreak. The 1-hour tour will go through all of the various major rooms in the building and discover the many Greek aspects throughout. Maximum number of participants: 35
Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection - Join George I. Paganelis, Curator of the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection, for a collection tour and learn about its history, strengths, and recent acquisitions. Also enjoy select materials on exhibit in both the main collection room and the reading room of the Donald & Beverly Gerth Special Collections and University Archives. Time will also be allotted for collection browsing. Transportation to and from campus will be provided, as will lunch after the tour.
San Francisco – Take a van tour of San Francisco. San Francisco Tour Company will take you through some of the most famous locations in the city. Because this is a minivan, it is able to go to many streets and locations that larger tour buses are prohibited. Two tours are available for Sunday: 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. Each tour lasts for 4 hours starting at Pier 39. Maximum of 5 people per tour. 
Napa Valley – Take a day trip to Napa Valley. Platypus tours will pick you up at the hotel on Sunday morning and drive you directly to wineries in the Valley. You will be able to select 3 – 4 wineries and also have a picnic lunch. The trip will leave on Sunday at 10:00 am and you will arrive back at the Hyatt by 5:00 pm. Wine tasting charges in addition to the tour fees. Minimum number of total participants: 8.
Las Vegas – Take an overnight trip to sin city. Please click on the hyperlink and make your booking that will include airline and hotel accommodations. You will be able to select the best flight itinerary and hotel that fit your schedule and budget. You will need to book transportation to/from SMF airport. Individual booking/no participant number restriction.
