The Center for Hellenic Studies at the University of California San Diego congratulates Leonidas Mylonakis on receiving his PhD in Modern Greek History. His path-breaking dissertation examines piracy in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean during the long nineteenth century. Along with Leonidas, two other students, Ted Falk and Patrick Adamiak, who are affiliated with the Center, also received their doctorates in Ottoman and Middle Eastern History. With four other doctoral candidates set to defend their dissertations later in the year, 2018 looks to be a banner year for the Center and for the field of Modern Greek History.
