Who were the members of Antonis Dagoulas' infamous Security Batallions that
roamed through Thessaloniki in 1944, who were their victims, and what
happened to them as the German Occupation ended? These important issues are
discussed in breathtaking detail in Andreas Venianakis' book "Δάγκουλας, ο
'δράκος' της Θεσσαλονίκης", published in June 2016 by Epikentro. The author
is not a professional historian or a historian by training, but his work
demonstrates how and why History is for everyone; his book will be
presented -- at the Thessaloniki History Center (Hippodrome Square) on
Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 7:15 pm -- by historians Stratos Dordanas and
Nikos Marantzidis, and by the author himself.

Having a deep personal interest in the subject, as my father was one of
Dagoulas' victims -- truly sent to Germany for forced labor, unlike many
others executed by the Security Batallions but falsely claimed by Dagoulas
and his men to have been sent there -- I have written a few words about
Venianakis' book in http://liokrousi.blogspot.gr/2016/09/blog-post.html (in
Greek).
