Dear MGSA members,

This short filmed interview might be of interest to list members:

Maria Mavroudi<http://history.berkeley.edu/people/maria-mavroudi> is Professor of History and Classics at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on the interaction between Byzantium and the Arabic-speaking world, translations from Arabic into Greek, and the transmission of science (especially its occult variety) during the Middle Ages.
This month, she visited Istanbul for the opening of a new research centre at Bogaziçi University, delivering an inaugural lecture on "Byzantine Philosophy and Science at the Court of Mehmed The Conqueror".
This interview for Classics Confidential was filmed the day after the talk, and introduces us to some of the most important debates about Byzantine historiography and heritage.
