HERITAGE GREECE 2016

The American College of Greece (ACG) is now accepting applications for Heritage Greece 2016, an educational and cultural program for college-aged, Greek-American students. Heritage Greece was developed by the National Hellenic Society (NHS) as part of its mission to celebrate and preserve Greek heritage in the United States and is hosted by The American College of Greece (ACG). Heritage Greece is a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore Greek heritage, culture and identity with a peer group of students from the US and Greece.

2016 marks the seventh consecutive year that the Heritage Greece program will take place under the management of the American College of Greece (ACG). The program has progressed to include bespoke educational and engaging activities for the participating students through an intensive immersion experience developed in collaboration with the program's generous contributors. Participating students will experience a variety of stimuli highlighting their Greek Heritage. These include insiders' tours and screenings at the Benaki and Acropolis museums in Athens; private Greek cooking and dancing classes; visits to villages and sites of archaeological significance, Byzantine influence, and rich Hellenic culture and tradition both in the mainland and on the islands. All these are supplemented with handpicked seminars, outings and activities with our DEREE students to offer a unique experience in the motherland.

This year, the Heritage Greece Program will run from June 9 to 26, 2016.
This exciting educational program includes:

  *   A once in a lifetime first-hand experience of Greek heritage, traditions and culture
  *   An experiential customized one-credit language and culture course
  *   Field trips and on-site teaching
  *   Recreational and educational excursions
  *   Modern, spacious housing at ACG
  *   Tuition, meals and transportation while in Greece
  *   Classroom materials

Heritage Greece is the NHS' contribution to keeping Greek heritage and identity vibrant and relevant.

Students will meet in Washington DC for Orientation on June 9, 2016 and depart for Greece as a group on June 10, chaperoned by an ACG staff member. Students bear a portion of the airfare expense to and from Greece and are responsible for getting to Washington DC for Orientation. Expenses including tuition, transportation, meals and related costs while in Greece are borne by NHS.

ACG is accepting applications through March 25, 2016. We are seeking Greek-American college students who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and have never or seldom been to Greece.
