[MGSA-L] Peiramatika Scholeia

Susannah Verney refers to "kids from Kolonaki". But these kids attend
school in Kolonaki rather than being kids whose parents can afford to
live in Kolonaki. These kids were selected by lottery - entry into any
peiramatiko kindergarten across the country has been and continues to be
by lottery. These kindergarten kids have always had the right to enrol
in the local peiramatiko demotiko, with any spare places filled by
lottery. Entry into peiramatika gymnasia and lykeia has been by
examination, which means that these schools catered only for top
students. The new legislation means that kids who gained entry into the
peiramatiko system by lottery now have an automatic right to continue
their education in the local peiramatiko gymnasio/lykeio, with any spare
places filled by lottery. What has changed seems to be what Susannah
wants: all students in peiramatika gymnasia/lykeia will have entered the
peiramatiko system by lottery.
Can anyone point me to research into the results/outcomes of the
peiramatiko system? Does Syriza have plans to accelerate the progress of
the top students who would otherwise have gained entry by examination
into the peiramatiko system?
