Please join us for an informal talk and conversation with Lina Nikolakopoulou about her work and the role of the lyric tradition in modern Greek music.

Lina Nikolakopoulou is widely acclaimed as a groundbreaking Greek lyricist and music composer. She has worked with all the major contemporary Greek composers and singers, including Giannis Spanos, Stauros Xarchakos, Mikis Theodorakis, Thanos Mikroutsikos, and Manos Hadjidakis.   Lina Nikolakopoulou has also collaborated with Sting, Paolo Conte, Goran Bregovic, Ara Dinkjian, Kiki Lezendric, Angelo Branduardi, and Leonard Cohen. Her lyrics have been translated in several languages, from English to Swedish and Hebrew, French, Spanish, German and Italian.  She was also the curator for musical shows and performances in Greece, such as the Opening and Closing Ceremony of the Athens Olympic Games 2004, for which she wrote the song "Pass the Flame" for the Olympic Torch Relay.
