"Beauty and Art: or Where did Aesthetics Go Astray?"

David Konstan
Department of Classics, New York University and Emeritus Professor of Classics, Brown University

Professor Konstan will discuss his latest book Beauty: The Fortunes of an Ancient Idea by offering a historical perspective to the concept of beauty and its modern reception.

The lecture is organized by the Department of Classics, the Hellenic Studies Program, the Program in Judaic Studies, the Yale Interdisciplinary Working Group for the Study of Antiquity, and the Department of Philosophy. The talk is made possible by the generous support of the Onassis Foundation (USA) and is part of the Onassis Foundation University Seminar Program.
