I am reposting the ad for the MGSA's search for editor(s) for the Journal of Modern Greek Studies. Those who are interested or who have a question regarding the position(s) should contact Professor Kostis Kornetis, Chair of the MGSA Publications Committee, at kornetis at gmail.com.
Search, Editor(s) for the Journal of Modern Greek Studies
The Modern Greek Studies Association is seeking (an) Editor(s) for the Journal of Modern Greek Studies to succeed the current Editors, Artemis Leontis (Editor for the Humanities) and Neni Panourgia (Editor for the Social Sciences). Published twice a year (October and May) with Johns Hopkins University Press, the Journal is the leading forum for the publication of scholarship on Modern Greek culture and society in English. The Association is looking for accomplished scholars, fluent in both English (native fluency) and Greek (including fluency in polytonic and katharevousa), who can lead the Journal for a period of three years, a term of service that is renewable if the Editor so wishes, subject to approval by the Association’s Executive Board. The editorship carries no remuneration.
The principal duty of the Editor(s) is to supervise the entire editorial process of manuscripts, from the time of initial submission through the blind review process and to eventual rejection or publication. Two Associate Editors, two Book Review Editors, and the members of the JMGS Editorial Board, all of whom normally serve three-year renewable terms and are appointed by the MGSA Executive Board with attention to the recommendations of the Editors, support the Editor’s work. In recent years, the JMGS has added new electronic features through its web version, and the MGSA intends to continue and expand on that exciting development.
Interested applicants should submit a CV and a two-page statement referring to their editing credentials and any previous editorial experience, and outlining their vision for the Journal as a long-term scholarly and collaborative project. The statement should also state the type of support (if any) that the Editor(s) can expect from the home institution(s). Please submit applications electronically (in pdf) by May 1, 2015 to Kostis Kornetis (Chair of the MGSA Publications Committee) at kornetis at gmail.com<mailto:kornetis at gmail.com>.
