Subject: Greek American Writers' Night Press Release Oct. 4

The Greek American Writers Night.

Stretching from Aegean Sea to the streets of Oakland, containing both poets and punk rockers, the world of Greek/American writing involves more than just Big Fat Weddings and dancing peasants. Join novelists and journalists, publishers and academics, who will delight and enchant you with storytelling, poetry, and prose—and break stereotypes instead of plates.

Hosted by local writers Alexandra Kostoulas and Nick Mamatas. Mezedes and wine. All are welcome. $5—nobody turned away for lack of funds. 6pm. http://bit.ly/GreekWritersNight

About the hosts:

Nick Mamatas is the author of several novels, including Love is the Law and the Last Weekend. His short fiction has appeared in Best American Mystery Stories, Asimov's Science Fiction, New Haven Review, and many other magazines and journals. His collection of Lovecraftian horror/fantasy fiction, The Nickronomicon, is forthcoming this fall.

Alexandra Kostoulas is a poet, fiction writer and journalist. She has been nominated for several awards in poetry, fiction and journalism, and has won a few. She teaches English at Academy of Art University and runs a creative writing workshop in San Francisco called Jack Grapes’ METHOD WRITING Program.
