Gonda Van Steen suggested that I write to you about a new book on Modern Greek history and culture. I am the academic advisor for the St. George Society of Worcester, MA. During the past several
years the Society has published and supported three books on Greek history and culture about an obscure Greek
Mountain village in Northwest Greece. The three books are follows:
From Pax Ottomanica to Pax Europea: The Growth and Decline of a Greek Village’s Micro-Economy by Dr Dimitrios KONSTADAKOPULOS, Senior Lecturer at Cardiff Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. Peter Lang, 2014.100 Years in America: Tsamantas (Greece) – Worcester, MA (USA) 1908-2008, Historical Determinants and Images of the Identity and Culture of Diasporas from Southwestern Europe by Dr. Dimitrios Konstadakopulos and Soterios Zoulas. University of the West of England Press, 2010.Tales, Rituals and Songs: Exploring the Unknown Popular Culture of a Greek Mountain Villageby Nikolaos Nitsos, translated into English by Panayiotis League, Instructor of Modern Greek Studies
at Hellenic College. The book is an ethnographic study of the popular
culture of the village of Tsamantas in Northwest Greece published in
1926. It will be available December 2014 from the Hellenic College Press
