Dear Fellow Hellenic Academics,

Please note the following three upcoming events sponsored or co-sponsored by the Circle of Hellenic Academics in Boston.


1)    Inaugural Lecture by Professor Panagiotis Roilos of Harvard:

a)    Title:    "Literature as Cultural Politics: C. P. Cavafy’s Diasporic Hellenism”

b)    Date:   October 16, 2014;  at  6:30 pm

c)     Place:    Granoff Music Center, TUFTS University, 20 Talbot Avenue, Medford, MA 02155 (ample parking available)


2)    Greek Film Festival: four (4) recent Greek films to be shown at the  Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge on November 5 and 6.

a)    The films are:

i)     “The Enemy Within” directed by Yorgos Tsemberopoulos, showing on Nov. 5 at 7 pm.

ii)   “Xenia” Directed by Panos Koutras, showing on Nov. 5 at 9 pm. The film won rave reviews when it was shown at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

iii) ”Lost in the Bewilderness” directed by Alexandra Anthony, will be shown on Thursday, November 6 at 7 pm. This is a documentary, made over a period of 30 years.

iv)   “What If” directed by Christopher Papakaliatis, will be shown on Thursday, November 6 at 9 pm. An enthralling love story with immense audience appeal.


3)    Special Lecture by Dr. Pascal Bruckner, a famous French philosopher, sponsored by the Onassis Foundation (USA)

a)    Title:    “The Good Life"

b)    Date:   November 11, 2014; at 6:30 pm

c)     Place:   Alumnae Lounge, TUFTS University, 40 Talbot Avenue, Medford, MA 02155  (ample parking available)

The second event requires tickets be purchased. The two lectures are free and open to the general public.

                                                                Please distribute this announcement widely.
