Dear MGSA Members,

The National Hellenic Society (NHS) is a non-profit foundation comprised of
leaders of the Greek American community. NHS is a proud member and
supporter of MGSA and several NHS’ members are substantial benefactors to
many MGSA member institutions. NHS was established to preserve and pass on
Hellenic heritage to the next generation.

NHS’ signature program: Heritage Greece Program is an unforgettable two-week
cultural immersion program designed to connect college-age Greek American
students with their Hellenic roots, heritage and identity. The Heritage
Greece Program is hosted by The American College of Greece (ACG) located on
a beautiful 65-acre campus on a suburban Athenian hillside. ACG is Europe’s
oldest, largest American styled university with state-of-art facilities and
accommodations. The students share their two-week odyssey with a peer group
of ACG students. The students describe the program as life-changing as
quantified and borne by five years of sociological research compiled since
the Program’s inception. Learning is experiential coupled with
extraordinary field trips to a host of sites. This experience is shared by
the Greek American students, their peers and ACG staff. Heritage Greece
Students receive one transferable language and culture class credit.

The Heritage Greece Program is a grant from the NHS to the students. The
students meet in Washington for orientation and embark for Athens as a
group. The students bear part of the airfare expense ($1,000) to/from
Washington DC to Athens. Heritage Greece is distinguished from similar
study abroad programs given that the Heritage Greece experience continues
beyond the trip back from Greece. NHS plays a proactive role in the lives
of the Heritage Greece alum with mentoring, internships and other career
advancing assistance vis-à-vis the extensive NHS network of contacts. In
turn, Heritage Greece Alum participate in NHS activities, events and help
support NHS’ programs.

The 2015 Heritage Greece Program will take place from June 11-28, 2015.
Students will arrive in Washington on June 11th and attend Orientation on
June 12, 2015 which is followed by a Washington DC tour, meeting with
Congressional, Administration members and staff. The students arrive in
Athens on June 13th.

18-26 are eligible for consideration in the Heritage Greece Program.
