This lecture tackles the timely question of how the economic crisis has
changed Greeks' relationship to their past. How are history and time
experienced outside the boundaries of academia, in the streets, by
protesting people? What would an archive consisting of images, graffiti,
slogans and manifestos from the 2008-2012 protest movements in Athens
convey? Would it be possible to conceive of an encounter between
street-history and theory of history? Finally, can the connections between
past, present and future be contextualized into recent theories of
temporality and the distinction between historical and practical past?
