Many thanks for the questions raised earlier about the connections that
exist among Modern Greek Studies and trans and queer studies.

To begin an answer to both, many of us have been working for some time on
issues of gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation in contemporary
Greece. Without meaning to neglect any one scholar or discipline, a partial
list of such scholars might begin with Peter Loizos, Evthymios
Papataxiarchis, Jill Dubisch, James Faubion, Venetia Kantsa, Kostas
Yiannakopoulos, Elisavet Kirtsoglou, and Anna Apostolidou.

MGSA listmembers might also find the Journal of Mediterranean Studies vol
18, no 2 2010 to be one of many good places to engage recent threads of
these ongoing conversations.

This conversation thread also creates a great opportunity for others working
on these issues to share their current work with the list; I¹m happy to
compile those efforts off list and make the resource available to anyone
interested.

Best,
Brian
