Both Lissi A. and George Syrimis make good points about the list ignoring Cyprus. It probably has more to do with the fact that we don't have too many bankers on the list, nor economists, for that matter. I find that the New York Times has been covering the Cyprus banking crisis very closely (3 separate articles in one edition of the paper this week) and intelligently. It is a tragic situation, mostly the fault of the Cypriot bankers, as the Greek crisis is of the Greek bankers and politicians, but that does not let the troika off the hook. They have behaved like jerks at various times and the austerity they are imposing on Greece (and would like to impose on the Cypriots) is terribly counter productive as people like Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman and other straight thinkers have pointed out over and over. Moreover, this austerity does NOT punish those responsible for the pain. Instead, it is the common people who are bearing the brunt of these ridiculous measures.
