Featuring an international cast that includes Catherine Deneuve, Sebastian Koch and Lakis Lazopoulos, "God Loves Caviar" is the compelling story of Ioannis Varvakis (1745-1825) and his journey from humble pirate to international caviar millionaire and supporter of the cause of Greek Independence. This epic tale moves from the Greek island of Psara to the court of Catherine the Great in Russia and the shores of the Caspian Sea, and then back to Greece, a country torn by the Greek revolution (1821) against the Ottoman Empire and by civil war.
