JOB ANNOUNCEMENT - MODERN GREEK LANGUAGE TEACHERS PR

The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Greek School Board in Sacramento is currently seeking applications for instructors for the 2012-2013 Greek School Program. The Board would like to solicit all interested individuals to teach modern Greek to students ranging from K – 16 grades.
Specifically, the Board is looking for instructors who: 1) have an excellent knowledge of the modern Greek language and its morphology, vocabulary, etymology, grammar and syntax, 2) have the pedagogical capacity to design and teach quality lessons, 3) have good classroom management techniques, 4) successfully handle students of different linguistic, educational, and cultural backgrounds, and finally 5) be sensitive and attentive to students’ needs.

Qualifications:
I. All applicants must have the following minimum qualifications:
1. Proven experience for teaching young students
2. Proven experience on teaching modern Greek in the United States
3. Either a B.A. from a Greek University or proficiency in Greek language

II. Preference will be given to applicants who have one or more of the following added
qualifications:
1. M.A. or PhD from Greece or abroad on teaching/learning disabilities/
pedagogy/Greek culture
2. Proven professional development as a teacher: seminars/conferences etc.

All interested applicants are encouraged to send their cv/resumes and a brief letter of intent detailing their abilities and specific grade level teaching desired. Applications will begin being reviewed on Monday, 13 August until all positions are filled.
