Dear all, 
 
This letteris to bring to your attention and ask you to support the proposal for the implementation of a TV production, which will highlight the contribution and great achievements of prominent individuals of Hellenic descent, who excel in the Sciences, in the Arts and Letters. Moreover, it will highlight the rich activity of the Greek communities in the USA and attempt to map Hellenism in America (first, second, third and fourth generation).
 
The TV Production will air through the frequencies of ERT SA – ERT WORLD throughout the world (Australia, Europe, Canada, S. America, S. Africa), where the Hellenic Public Broadcasting Corporation is transmitting, with the perspective to be incorporated in the national programming of the station in Greece. This will be a weekly, one hour show. The filming for the program and the editing of the footage will be taking place in the USA. The production cost will be covered by ERT SA, with the financial assistance of the Omogeneia when is needed. 
 
Please note that ERT WORLD this year is airing a similar TV program for the Greek Community in Australia entitled: “From Australia with Love”. The show is very successful and has the moral and financial support of the Omogeneia in the Antipodes. More information about the show you may find at the link :

To date, the representation of Hellenism in the USA through the TV Programming of ERT SA and its satellite program is poor to non-existent. The present proposition can become a reality with your support and encouragement aiming to the suitable parties in the ERT SA.
 
ERTS.A.anditssatelliteprogramconstitutealivebridgeofcommunicationwiththeHellenismaroundtheworld. And this is what the role of Public Television must be, so the proposition to create a TV show focusing on the Hellenism of the USA is based on this fundamental principal, especially today where the Omogeneia and the motherland must invest in the reinstatement of the mutual trust and support.
 
The purpose of this proposal is not only to make the activities of the Hellenes Abroad known, but it can also offer the opportunity to create a strong and unified network amongst Hellenes of the world, utilizing the global TV network of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, and become equally beneficial for the Omogeneia and Greece.
 
Today, Greeceneeds, morethanever,toreach to the Omogeneia, the Hellenes who live in the five continents and utilize their experience, their expertise, their passion and love for their country, to promote Greece and help its economy grow again. ThecreationofaTVprogram,whereeachandevery oneofyou will be the protagonist, presentingyoureffortsandachievements, willoffertheappropriate motive, and will fulfill our national goals, the preservation of our Greek language and identity.

Αγαπητοί, 
 
Η παρούσα επιστολή έχει ως στόχο να θέσει υπόψη των μελών του Ελληνισμού του Εξωτερικού, και να ζητήσει την ηθική στήριξη υλοποίησης πρότασης για την δημιουργία τηλεοπτικής παραγωγής, η οποία θα προβάλλει την πλούσια δραστηριότητα των διακεκριμένων προσωπικοτήτων μεταξύ των Ελλήνων ομογενών που υπηρετούν την αριστεία στις επιστήμες, στην Τέχνη και στα γράμματα, θα προβάλλει την πλούσια δραστηριότητα της Ομογένειας των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών Αμερικής,  επιχειρώντας παράλληλα την χαρτογράφηση του ελληνικού στοιχείου (πρώτη,
 δεύτερη, τρίτη και τέταρτη γενιά). 
 
Η εκπομπή θα προβάλλεται από τις συχνότητες της ΕΡΤ Α.Ε. – ERTWORLDσε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο (Αυστραλία, Ευρώπη, Καναδά, Ν. Αμερική, Ν. Αφρική), όπου εκπέμπει η Δημόσια Ελληνική Τηλεόραση, με προοπτική να ενσωματωθεί στο βασικό πρόγραμμα της ΕΡΤ εντός Ελλάδας. Η συχνότητα προβολής θα είναι εβδομαδιαία και η διάρκειά της μία ώρα. Τα γυρίσματα της εκπομπής και η επεξεργασία της εικόνας (μοντάζ) θα πραγματοποιούνται στις ΗΠΑ υπό την ευθύνη μου. Το κόστος υλοποίησης μπορεί να καλυφθεί από την ΕΡΤ, με την συμβολή και της Ομογένειας στον βαθμό
 που αυτό θα καταστεί αναγκαίο. 
 
Να σημειωθεί ότι η ERTWORLDέχει δρομολογήσει με επιτυχία ανάλογη πρωτοβουλία προβάλλοντας ωριαίο εβδομαδιαίο τηλεοπτικό πρόγραμμα με τον τίτλο «Από την Αυστραλία με Αγάπη»  για τους Έλληνες της Αυστραλίας. (Περισσότερες πληροφορίες για την εκπομπή στον σύνδεσμο:

Έως σήμερα, η τηλεοπτική εκπροσώπηση του Ελληνισμού των ΗΠΑ από την ΕΡΤ Α.Ε. και το δορυφορικό πρόγραμμα είναι ελλιπής αν όχι ανύπαρκτη. Με την δική σας υποστήριξη και παρότρυνση προς τους ιθύνοντες της ΕΡΤ, η παρούσα πρόταση μπορεί να γίνει πραγματικότητα.
 
Η ΕΡΤ και το δορυφορικό της πρόγραμμα αποτελούν την ζωντανή γέφυρα επικοινωνίας με τον Απόδημο Ελληνισμό. Άλλωστε αυτό επιβάλλει και ο χαρακτήρας της Δημόσιας Τηλεόρασης. Η πρόταση λοιπόν για την προβολή εκπομπής με επίκεντρο τον Ελληνισμό των ΗΠΑ οικοδομείται πάνω σε αυτή την λογική, μάλιστα σε μια περίοδο που η Ομογένεια και το Μητροπολιτικό κέντρο πρέπει να επενδύσουν στην αποκατάσταση της αμοιβαίας εμπιστοσύνης και στήριξης. 
 
Η πρόταση δεν αποσκοπεί μονάχα στην δημοσιοποίηση των δραστηριοτήτων των αποδήμων μας, αλλά μπορεί να αποβεί αμφίδρομα ευεργετική προσφέροντας την ευκαιρία της δικτύωσης και ενοποίησης του Ελληνισμού ανά τον κόσμο μέσα από το παγκόσμιο τηλεοπτικό δίκτυο της ΕΡΤ. 
Σήμερα η Ελλάδα χρειάζεται όσο ποτέ άλλοτε να αξιοποιήσει το δυναμικό που διαθέτει η Ομογένεια για την προβολή της χώρας, την ανάπτυξη της οικονομίας της. Η δημιουργία ενός προγράμματος που θα έχει ως πρωταγωνιστές όλους εσάς, παρουσιάζοντας την δική σας προσπάθεια σίγουρα θα δώσει το απαιτούμενο κίνητρο,  εκπληρώνοντας και τους εθνικούς σκοπούς της διατήρησης της ελληνικής γλώσσας και ταυτότητας.
