A week-long photo exhibition and related events will take place in Toronto, Canada from May 4-12, 2012. The exhibition will feature works from photographers of Greek descent from throughout North America and is hosted in conjunction with the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, one of the largest photography festivals in the world.

The photo exhibition will be hosted at one of Toronto’s most unique event spaces, The Burroughes, compliments of Greek America Foundation supporter Queen Street Partners, a company that has demonstrated a proven track record of supporting neighborhoods and brands before they are broadly recognized. The group has been integral to the founding and growth of Greek Film & Foto Week.

This year’s Featured Photographer is Constantine Manos, one of the world’s foremost photographers, whose exhibitions have been featured in world-class museums and installations. His work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, the Art Institute of Chicago, the George Eastman House in Rochester, and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.

In our effort to bring together filmmakers of our community and allow them to express themselves through their creativity for a goal that fulfills its mission, the Foundation organized a Greek-inspired 48-hour short film contest for filmmakers worldwide. Although the film competition was “Greek-themed,” the contest was open to filmmakers of all backgrounds who have an interest in Greece and Greek heritage and culture. These films will be shown during the weekend of May 4-6, 2012. "The Foreigner" by UCLA graduate student Alethea Avramis and "Light Blue and Orange" by award-winning filmmaker Stefanos Sitaras will be shown as well; and acclaimed Greek documentary and filmmaker Nikos Katsaounis will speak at a screening of "The Prism", a documentary dealing with the economic crisis in Greece.
