Assistant Professor of Greek History and Cultural Studies

The Department of Classics and Mediterranean Studies and the Department of History at the University of Illinois at Chicago seek candidates for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor.  The appointment begins August 16, 2012.  The successful candidate will have Ancient Greek History as a primary field with competency in teaching introductory courses in Ancient Roman and Modern Greek History.

Candidates must have a PhD or ABD in Ancient Greek History or Classics. If ABD, the dissertation must be completed by August 2012, prior to starting the position. The candidate should have a substantive research agenda that will contribute to one or more of the department's existing areas of strength. The salary is competitive based on qualifications.

 

Located in the heart of Chicago, UIC is a Carnegie Research I University with 16,000 undergraduates, 6,500 graduate students, and 3,000 professional students. Final authorization of the position is subject to availability of state funding.
