The Department of Comparative Literature and the Committee for Modern Greek
Studies at Brown University invite applications for a two-year position as
Visiting Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature with an emphasis on
Mediterranean Studies and Modern Greek Literature, to begin July 1, 2012.
The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Department of
Comparative Literature.  Applicants should have a record of research and
publication in any field of post-1800 Modern Greek literature as well as a
broad commitment to Mediterranean studies in a comparative and
multidisciplinary perspective. Excellent command of Modern Greek and of
English are required. Ph.D. in Modern Greek studies, Comparative Literature,
or a related discipline.

Teaching duties: two courses each semester on Mediterranean Studies with a
modern Greek Literature and Culture component to be offered in the
Department of Comparative Literature.  Administrative duties: organizing
lectures and symposia in the wider field of Mediterranean studies.  Send
