[MGSA-L] Odysseas Elytis: celebrating 100 years since the day of his birth

November 2 marks 100 years since the birth of the poet, who won the Nobel
Prize for literature in 1979. To honor the occasion, the students of the
program in Modern Greek Studies will be presenting a program of readings of
his poetry in Greek and in English translation, and an audiovisual
presentation of his biography with photos from his life. The event will
also include a screening of a short archival film from his visit to El
Greco's home in Toledo in 1980, kindly donated by journalist Costas
Serezis, an exhibition of his complete works in Greek and studies about his
work in other languages, a slideshow of his artwork, and recorded
performances of his poetry set to music by Yannis Markopoulos and Mikis
Theodorakis. The program for this event is available at:
