In an act of extreme provocation, a total of 9 people have
been taken prisoners of war by the occupation authority, in
Ammochostos.

These are MEP Eleni Theocharous, Polish MEPs Yaroslav Valesa
(son of Valesa of Solidarnosk fame) and Artour Zasasta, and
Bulgarian MEP Maria Nevesleva (spelling pending). Also,
bishop Porfyrios (perhaps the representative of the Church
of Kypros in Brusells?) and father Savvas who works on
matters of cultural heritage.

There are also an employee of EP, ex MEP Matsakis, and
member of Refugee Movenment Loizos Afxentiou.

Speaking to a journalist of RIK, MEP Theocharous said that
the team went to the occupied area to inspect the state of
churches in Rizokarpaso (a vilage in the peninsula of
Karpasia) and Mesaoria, the plane between Lefkosia and
Ammochostos.

The following news report, in Greek, mistakenly uses the
term "arrests", normally used with reference to a police and
the legal order of a state. But the acts of an occupation
authority, itself based on a foreign occupation army and
condemned as illegal by the UN and EU, cannot be described
as arrests.

As of this moment, there is no information for an academic
conference that will examine this extreme act, where members
of European Parliament are taken prisoners --a moment in
this conflict of nationalisms in Kypros, better understood
in the frame of nationalism and fanaticism characterizing
all Unwashed that have yet to realize the unnecessary
character of wars, invasions and their sacrifices.

Late last night, RIK tv news had a video with Eleni
Theocharous, apparently set free. Mrs. Theocharous has said
that the occupation authorities set free the two Polish
members of EP. But they refused to leave untill all the
others were also set free.

Mrs. Theocharous also said that in favor of their release
there was also intervention by some Turkish Cypriots. These
Turkish Cypriots were actually members of the occupation
authorities, presenting themselves as "members of parliament".
