[MGSA-L] Holocaust Remembrance Day -- Ημέρα Μνήμης των Θυμάτων του Ολοκαυτώματος

A Holocaust Remembrance Day event, paying tribute to the tenths of thousands of 
Jewish Greeks who perished in the Holocaust, was organized by the Argonauts 
Association of Magnisia and was held at the Stathakion Cultural Center in 
Astoria, New York on 1/23/2011.

This year's featured speaker was Thessaloniki-born Dr. Isaac Benmayor, DPhil 
(Oxon)

Kudos to Professor Asher Matathias, 
a Greek-American-Sephardi-Romaniote-immigrant (from  Volos, who came to the 
United States 55 years ago) and a member of the Board of Directors of the 
Argonauts Association of Magnisia, for his tireless efforts  in organizing 
(during the past 5 years) the Annual Holocaust Remembrance events.  In Dr. 
Matathias' own words, these events are aimed at "mourning the decimation of 87% 
of Greek Jews and simultaneously honoring those non-Jews -- titled and simply 
citizens -- who provided the wherewithal to protect and therefore save their 
Jewish compatriots."
