NATIONAL BANK OF GREECE, Senior Research Fellow/Research Fellow

in Contemporary Greek Studies

Salary: Senior  Research Fellow £48,104 - £55,723 per annum inclusive (Band 8)

Research Fellow £40,323 - £46,710 per annum inclusive (Band 7)

Reference: RES/10/06

The post is based at the Hellenic Observatory (HO), which is part of
the LSE's European Institute and is available following the generous
donation of the National Bank of Greece.

The HO focuses on the position of both Greece and Cyprus in relation
to the European Union and South-East Europe.

Its perspective is that of the social sciences - covering political,
economic and social developments.

Following the generous support of the National Bank of Greece, this
fellowship is to facilitate high quality research and publication(s)
relevant to the work of the Hellenic Observatory and will be for a
fixed-term for one person for 12 months or for two people for 6 months
consecutively starting September 2011.

The preferred appointment is for a Senior Research Fellow (Band 8),
however if no suitable applications are received at this level, the HO
will consider applications for a Research Fellow (Band 7).

You should have a PhD, a strong publication record and knowledge of
contemporary Greece. You are required to submit a full research
proposal of your own.

Salary: £40,323 - £46,710 per annum inclusive (pay award pending)

The post is based at the Hellenic Observatory (HO), which is part of
the LSE's European Institute and is available following the generous
donation of Mr A.C. Laskaridis.

The HO was set up in recognition of the unique role that the LSE can
play in this regard with the establishment of the Eleftherios
Venizelos Chair on Contemporary Greek Studies in 1996. The HO focuses
on the position of both Greece and Cyprus in relation to the European
Union and South-East Europe.

Its perspective is that of the social sciences, covering political,
economic and social developments.

We seek a candidate who can undertake research on Greece, its foreign
relations, domestic politics or economic performance.

You should possess a PhD, as well as a demonstrable knowledge of
Greece and evidence of publication and/or project delivery through
independent, original research.

This is a fixed-term post for either one appointment for 12 months or
for two appointments for 6 months consecutively starting in September
2011.
