American Academy of Emergency Medicine 2012 Elections
Nomination Deadline: November 10, 2011

AAEM encourages candidates for election to the board of directors who have a
previous record of service and commitment to the Academy.

The president, vice president, secretary-treasurer and three at-large
positions on the AAEM board of directors are open as well as the Young
Physicians Section (YPS) director position. Any Academy member may nominate
a full voting or YPS member (for the YPS director position only) for the
board. Self-nominations are allowed and encouraged. You must be a YPS member
to be eligible to run for the YPS director position.

Elections for these positions will be held at AAEM's

Assembly, February 8-10, 2012, in San Diego, CA. In order to nominate
yourself or another full voting member for a board position, please complete

and  <https://ssl18.pair.com/aaemorg/elections/attestation_form.php>
attestation statement and send to the AAEM office before midnight CST, on
November 10, 2011. All candidates are required to complete the attestation
statement. Any YPS member can be nominated and elected to the YPS director

Award Nominations Sought for AAEM Awards

AAEM is pleased to announce it is currently accepting nominations for its
annual awards. Find out more information about the specific

Nominations will be accepted for all awards until midnight CST, November 10,
2011. The AAEM executive committee will review the nominees and select
recipients for all awards except the EM Program Director of the Year Award,
which will be selected by the AAEM Resident and Student Association.

AAEM Scientific Assembly Competitions - Deadline: November 4, 2011!

ENTER THE AAEM PHOTO COMPETITION
AAEM seeks original photographs for presentation. Photographs of patients,
pathology specimens, gram stains, EKG's and radiographic studies or other
visual data may be submitted. Submissions should depict clear examples of
findings that are relevant to the practice of emergency medicine or findings
of unusual interest that have educational value. For official rules and

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS-AAEM/JEM RESIDENT & STUDENT RESEARCH COMPETITION
The AAEM/JEM Resident and Student Research Competition is designed to
recognize outstanding research achievements by residents in emergency
medicine. To apply, an abstract summarizing the objectives, methods, results
and conclusions of the research performed must be submitted according to the
instructions detailed on our website.

Please do not submit an abstract if you are not prepared to travel to the
Scientific Assembly in San Diego on February 8-Februay 10, 2012, and present
it in the session selected by AAEM. The presenter of the oral abstract
judged to represent the most outstanding research achievement will receive a
$3,000 honorarium. $1,500 and $500 honoraria will go to the presenters of
the second and third place abstracts, respectively.

CALL FOR MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY CASE PRESENTATIONS
Graduate physicians (may include EM residents with the resident doing the
case presentation and the faculty presenting the discussion) are invited to
submit their Morbidity and Mortality cases for presentation during the 18th
Annual AAEM Scientific Assembly in San Diego on Thursday afternoon, February
9, 2012. A total of six cases will be selected based on their uniqueness,
educational merit and relevance to emergency medicine and notification of
acceptance or rejection will be sent by January 6, 2012. Accepted
submissions will be notified of their presentation time on February 9.
