Subject: Nomination "Notice" for ABEM Board
Fellow Members of the Academy:
AAEM and all EM organizations and individuals have been invited to submit nominations to
the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) for its upcoming Board of Directors
elections.
AAEM will be nominating two of its members for the slate of candidates for the Board of
Directors for the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
The Nomination Subcommittee of the Academic Affairs Committee is currently gathering
names for consideration by AAEM.
AAEM would like to have its members nominate themselves or other qualified Academy
members for consideration by the AAEM Academic Affairs Nomination Subcommittee and the
AAEM Board. The subcommittee will select a slate of candidates and, in conjunction with
the AAEM Board, submit its nominations to ABEM.
Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a graduate of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical
Education (ACGME)-accredited Emergency Medicine residency program.
2. Have been an ABEM diplomate for a minimum of ten years.
3. Have demonstrated extensive active involvement in organized
Emergency Medicine. Ideally, this includes long-term experience as an ABEM item writer,
oral examiner, or ABEM-appointed representative.
4. Be actively involved in the clinical practice of Emergency
Medicine.
More about becoming an ABEM director is available at the ABEM website
here:

Candidate nominations must include a letter outlining the nominee's qualifications, as
well as a copy of the nominee's CV.
These nominations are due to the Academy by October 10th. Nominations should be sent to
info at aaem.org by the deadline.
Thank you for your time,
