MEDICARE CONFERENCE AGREEMENT IN FINAL STRETCH - CONTACT YOUR CONGRESSIONAL
DELEGATION NOW!

The final Medicare conference agreement contains two provisions on which
AAEM has been actively lobbying:

*	It blocks the 4.5% cut in physician payments and substitutes an
increase of 1.5% in 2004 and 2005.

*	It contains $1 billion mandatory spending for hospitals, ambulances,
and physicians providing services to illegal immigrants under an EMTALA
related admission.

The House and Senate are expected to have close votes on the conference
report at the end of this week.

ACT NOW TO ENSURE PASSAGE OF THE MEDICARE CONFERENCE AGREEMENT!

FAX, CALL, or E-MAIL your congressional delegation TODAY!. Tell them to
ensure that the final Medicare Prescription Drug Act (1) blocks the 4.5% cut
in physician payments and substitutes an increase of 1.5% in 2004 and 2005;
and (2) retains $1 billion mandatory spending for hospitals, ambulances, and
physicians providing services to illegal immigrants under an EMTALA related
admission.

PERSONALIZE YOUR MESSAGE. TELL YOUR CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION HOW THESE
ISSUES EFFECT YOU, YOUR PATIENTS, AND THE FACILITY IN WHICH YOU WORK.

Go to AAEM's Legislative Action Center for detailed information, a template
letter/talking points, and all the contact information you will need. To
