Hello Everyone,

TODAY!!! (week 9): *FREE Contemporary African Dance Workshop*

There will be a free Contemporary African dance workshop on Thursday, May
28th from 6:00-8:00pm at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts in Dance
Studio 128. This workshop, led by graduate dancer Darlisa Wajid-Ali, will
start with the fundamentals of West African movement, then blend elements
of Jazz and Modern. This class is for advanced beginner level dancers and
up, and free for all UCI students.

Darlisa Wajid-Ali most recently performed at the 2015 African Black
Coalition in January. Check out the video:

NEXT WEEK (week 10): *Warrior, A Public Street Dance Performance in tribute
to Black Lives Matter Movement*

Warrior is a new dance piece that displays solidarity with those engaged in
the struggle for black liberation and pays homage to the many lives lost at
the hands of racism and oppression in America. The performance will begin
on Tuesday, June 2nd at 10:30a in front of Studio 1100 in the Claire Trevor
School of the Arts, proceed to the benches in front of the Cyber A cafe,
and march to the bridge between Humanities and the Student Center. The
performance will end with a march at 10:55am around Ring Road behind a
#BlackLivesMatter banner.

WHAT: Warrior, Public Street Dance Performance for Black Lives Matter
WHEN: Tuesday, June 2nd, 10:30-11:15am
WHERE: performance begins at Studio 1100: Claire Trevor School of the Arts,
Cyber A cafe, bridge between Humanities and Student Center, march around
Ring Road
