[BGSN] IMPORTANT: Campus Update

Family,

It has been brought to the public's attention that an Enforcement Officer
on campus has "left a trial of racism and hate" through pictures posted by
him on his Instagram. This is not a trail, this is the life that he lives
on a day to day basis. This is the life full of hatred that he is even
trying to instill into his own children. This man was an official employee
of the school and I urge you all to think about this: Think about how many
times you've shaken a stranger's hand who was full of hate, think about the
amount of times you've made eye contact with eyes full of hate, and think
about how many times you've sat next to someone full of hatre. Racism
breaths. Racism eats. Racism sleeps. Racism is alive and well, walking,
talking, and even driving Parking Enforcement vehicles. This is just one of
the many examples of this ever-so prevalent societal practice.

As the Black Student Union on campus, we encourage everyone to just be
aware of your surroundings and the people that you come into contact with.
Sometimes the people closet to you or even those who you deem to be caring
do not have your best interest in mind.

This is why the building of our community on campus is important because it
is our only safe and inclusive space as well, the people apart of our
community on campus have your safety and your best interest in mind. It is
a beautiful struggle that we all share. Keep this is mind this weekend. Be
safe and be happy to have your health. We look forward to seeing you at BSU
on Monday at 5 p.m in the Ring Room.
