Awards for Art History Majors Taking Unpaid Museum Internships
Friends of Art History will provide a $1,000 award to one or more UC Irvine Art History majors who have completed unpaid internships in a museum during 2016-17. Students who meet the eligibility requirements are invited to apply.
Please email the following documents to Cecilia Flanagan at c.flanagan at uci.edu no later than 12 PM April 7th, 2017:


1.       your unofficial transcript (add your name to the top of the first page)*



2.       a one-page letter of recommendation to be mailed directly from your internship supervisor to Cecilia Flanagan at c.flanagan at uci.edu. Contact your supervisor immediately with your request to allow them time to write the letter. Please provide them with details of your internship and your accomplishments to facilitate their efforts). If they are unable to meet the April 7th deadline, get a projected date from him/her and let me know (shouldn't be a problem if it arrives within a week or so of the deadline).


3.       a two-page essay explaining your responsibilities as an intern and what you gained from this experience.*

Eligibility requirements:
1.            UCI Art History major
2.            minimum 3.0 GPA in the major and/or overall
3.            internships must extend eight weeks or more and a total of 60 hours or more.
Awards will be announced at the annual Department of Art History spring party in early June.

·      This SUNDAY March 12th Movie Night! AHUA will be hosting a laid-back movie night in order to ease us all into the chaos that is Week 10 and adjust to Daylight Savings. More details will be discussed at meeting tomorrow night.

·      March 15th from 10am-1pm outside of HIB 100AHUA on RING ROAD to promote the Art Show and selling baked goods!

UNDER THE SCOPE ART SUBMISSIONS<http://uciahua.weebly.com/art-submissions.html>: Participants in the fifth annual Art History Undergraduate Association’s Art Show and Reception, including undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff from all schools and departments and community members are invited to engage freely with the theme. Your creativity is important to us; we welcome submissions of all forms. Extended deadline to submit your art: Sunday, March 19th 11:59 pm.

·      the dimensions of the work
·      your full name, the title, and medium.
·      a short paragraph about your work and how it pertains to the theme with your submission.

Friday, March 10th 4-6 pm 1010 Humanities Gateway: Celebratory book launch of “Orange County: A Literary Field Guide”, featuring writing by over sixty authors, including many associated with UC Irvine’s Programs in Writing. Friday March 10th: Join Professor Dimendberg and his architecture class on a tour through City Hall downtown Los Angeles the Moholy-Nagy exhibit at LACMA. RSVP to him for one or both tours at: dimendberg at cs.com
·      11am on Friday March 10 at the docent desk on the third floor of City Hall (200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012). City Hall tour. Students will need a photo id and must go through an airport-style security check to enter the building.
·      Friday March 10 at 2:45pm at the ticket office in front of the Hammer Building.  Walk-through of the Moholy-Nagy show. Students will obtain general admission tickets good for entry to all exhibitions on view (except Picasso and Rivera).  LACMA is open to 8pm on Fridays.
