Part-Time Job Opening: Dawson Cole Fine Art<http://www.dawsoncolefineart.com/> is looking for candidates for a part-time art sales position, weekends only on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5-10 at $100 per night plus 8% commission on sales.  The position we have open is at a Five Star Hotel in the area.  It’s a beautiful environment and it’s a really great job for a student.  The position requires picking up the artwork in protective bags (located at our local climate controlled storage), setting up the art on easels (10-15 pieces), setting up the lights and art cards, taking down the show at 10 pm, and delivering the art back to the gallery.  The focus is not just on setting up and taking down, but SELLING!

Dawson Cole is looking for a student who has a good work ethic, is punctual and a self-starter and learner with professional attire.

Fall 2016 Sawyer Seminar Documenting War Series<http://sites.uci.edu/documentingwar/>: All events in this year-long program are free and open to the public. Explore the genres, rhetoric, and real effects of wartime documentation and postwar reflection, as carried out by journalists, soldiers, civilians, and artists in verbal, visual, and mixed media forms. The seminar is led by project co-directors Carol Burke, Professor of English, and Cécile Whiting, Chancellor’s Professor of Art History and Visual Studies. Funded by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Huntington Internship Details: The intern will assist James Glisson (the Bradford and Christine Mishler Assistant Curator of American Art) with a variety of curatorial projects and various aspects of an upcoming exhibition on Frederick Eversley, the Los Angeles-based sculptor (currently the subject of a one-man show at Art + Practice) as well as researching potential acquisition candidates.

Duties may include handling photography and photo permissions, catalog research, and organizing archival research materials. The intern will learn how budgets, schedules, and exhibitions checklists come together during the crucial phase of planning exhibition. (S)he will also have the opportunity to write a blog for the Huntington’s site on a topic relevant to his/her interests.

The student will enroll in a 199 Independent Study (4 units) with an art history faculty mentor while interning at the Huntington. The student will work at the Huntington one day a week for ten weeks, meet weekly with his/her mentor, and complete a short paper based on the internship experience. The total time commitment for this internship will run 10-12 hours a week including visits to the museum, offsite research and work with your faculty mentor.

Application Materials:

1.         1-page letter of interest explaining interest and qualifications for internship
2.         Combined GPA of 3.0 or higher in art history courses at UCI
3.         Resume (of no more than 2 pages) to include previous internships, work experience and art history courses completed at UCI (with final grades)
4.         Name of a member of the art history faculty who will provide a reference if needed (student must contact reference in advance and ask if he/she is willing to act as reference).

Note: The internship requires a candidate with discretion and good organizational skills.
