1.     Internship at Laguna Art Museum: The Laguna Art Museum is gearing up for its upcoming exhibition on Mexico and California in 2017-18. This exhibit is part of a broad initiative led by the Getty to explore the the relationship between Latin America and Latino Art in dialogue with Los Angeles, www.getty.edu/pacificstandardtime/<http://www.getty.edu/pacificstandardtime/> The Education Department at the Laguna Art Museum is looking for interns in the fall of 2016 and spring 2017 working with Marinta Skupin, Curator of Education, who is looking for one intern per semester. Time commitment is flexible; two 3-hour shifts per week is ideal. This is an unpaid internship, however, remember that you can apply for FOAH funding, if you work 60 hours, you can apply for a $1,000 FOAH award. Send an application letter, unofficial transcript, and letter of recommendation to Cecilia Flanagan by Noon, Friday, May 20. Candidates will then be notified about interviews.


2.     Remember to apply for a FOAH Unpaid Museum Internship Award if you recently completed an unpaid internship.


3.     Summer Museum Internship Applicants (Getty, SDMA and LACMA) should hear back from Professor Patel about the status of their applications by the end of this week.


4.   Stop into the Student Center and enjoy AHUA’s Art Show  before it closes end of day tomorrow, May 5.

5.     4+1 BA/MA Program Applicants should hear back this week or next regarding the status of their applications.

8.     End of Year Awards Party: for Art History majors and Minors Friday, June 3rd 2016 at noon: Mark your calendars and join us for Panera salads, sandwiches and treats and celebrate the end of the year and our amazing students!


9.     Awards for Unpaid Museum Internships Deadline this Friday : Friends of Art History will provide a $1,000 award to one or more UC Irvine Art History majors who have completed unpaid internships in a museum during 2015-2016. Students who meet the eligibility requirements are invited to apply.

Please email the following documents to Cecilia Flanagan at c.flanagan at uci.edu no later than 12 PM May 6:
1. your unofficial transcript (add your name to the top of the first page)*
2. a one-page letter of recommendation to be mailed directly from your internship supervisor to Cecilia Flanagan at c.flanagan at uci.edu. Contact your supervisor immediately with your request to allow them time to write the letter and provide them with details of your internship and your accomplishments to facilitate their efforts).
3. a two-page essay explaining your responsibilities as an intern and what you gained from this experience.*

*Save your documents using naming conventions as per this example:

Eligibility requirements:
1. UCI Art History major
2. minimum 3.0 GPA in the major and/or overall
3. internships must extend eight weeks or more and a total of 60 hours or more.

Awards will be announced at the annual Department of Art History spring party in early June.
