The Clinic is a collaborative of over 30 organizations and individuals,
providing monthly services at the OC Great Park Farmers Market. The
purpose of the program is to pilot test a model of multidisciplinary
health services in a non-traditional public venue. The Clinic connects
children to services; provides safety-net health screenings,
immunizations and services; and builds health promotion skills. This
evaluation study was designed to determine the needs and acceptability
of a clinic in the park. The Clinic "stations" were 1) Health Services
& Enrollment; 2) Health Screenings; 3) Keep Kids Safe. Data was gathered
from collaborator evaluations, visitor evaluations, people counters, and
family "passports" showing zip code, ages and record of stations
visited. Between June 2012 and April 2013 over 5,000 visitors attended
and were provided over 10,000 services, including oral exams/fluoride
treatment, hearing and speech, BMI measurement, individual and group
health chats. Qualitative surveys demonstrated the need for services and
the need to provide transportation for families from outlying
communities. We plan the use of IT in further development of the
research agenda for evaluating the impact of the Clinic in the Park
model.

Ms. Alix serves as Clinic Coordinator for Clinic in the Park and as
Research Coordinator for a project on computerized alcohol screening and
intervention. She is also a Teaching Assistant in the School of Public
Health. She has worked as an editorial assistant for a medical journal
and an SAT biology test instructor. She has a Bachelor's degree in
biology from UCI and a Masters in Public Health from Cal State
Fullerton.

The SURF-IT student working with Ms. Alix and Dr. Shahram Lotfipour is
Payum Noshiravan, a public health policy major.
