Interview with
Professor Bill Cooper

Aside from being a professor of Civil Engineering at the UCI Henry Samueli School of Engineering, and the director of the UCI Urban Water Research Center; Professor Bill Cooper is the President of High Voltage Environmental, Inc. - a mobile electron beam hazardous waste treatment system in Florida.

The high-energy electron beam irradiation technology is a low-temperature method for destroying complex mixtures of hazardous organic chemicals in hazardous wastes. These wastes include slurried soils, river or harbor sediments, and sludges. The technology can also treat contaminated soils and groundwater. The high-energy electron irradiation of water produces a large number of very reactive chemical species, including the aqueous electron (e-aq), the hydrogen radical (H×), and the hydroxyl radical (OH×). These short-lived intermediates break down organic contaminants in aqueous wastes.

Please join us for a candid interview where we will discuss commercialization plans for his company, High Voltage Environmental, Inc. and where we get to learn more about his very enthusiastic entrepreneurial style.
